GUENHAEL KESSLER IS OUR WINE CONSULTANT FROM AVIGNON, FRANCE.  INTRODUCED BY CHANCE ENCOUNTER, THROUGH THE ONLY AMERICAN SOMMELIER IN FRANCE, KESSLER BRINGS UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON THE WINE VARIETALS OF SOUTHERN FRANCE.  EDUCATED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BORDEAUX, AND TRAINED AT THE FAMED CHATEAU D'ANGELUS, HE CURRENTLY CONSULTS FOR 40 WINERIES IN THE RHONE VALLEY AS WELL AS INTERNATIONALLY. HE HAS BEEN BEEN A WELCOME ADDITION TO THE RLV FAMILY WITH HIS DEPTH OF EXPERTISE AND GROWING INTEREST IN TEXAS TERROIR.

 

 

ED HELLMAN IS DIRECTOR OF VITICULTURE FOR RANCHO LOMA VINEYARDS, GUIDING KEY DECISIONS IN SELECTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF RLV VINEYARD SITES, AND CHOICE OF GRAPE VARIETIES, CLONES, AND ROOTSTOCKS.  HE OVERSEES RLV VINEYARDS TO ENSURE APPLICATION OF THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF VINEYARD MANAGEMENT TO PRODUCE THE EXCEPTIONAL FRUIT QUALITY THAT GOES INTO RLV WINES.  DR. HELLMAN RECEIVED HIS B.S. AND M.S. DEGREES IN HORTICULTURE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS, AND HIS PH.D. IN PLANT SCIENCE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS.  HE HAS MORE THAN 33 YEARS OF VITICULTURE EXPERIENCE IN THE ACADEMIC WORLD AS A UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR OF VITICULTURE CONDUCTING RESEARCH, TEACHING, AND EXTENSION EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING.  DR. HELLMAN HAS MADE PROFESSIONAL VISITS TO MAJOR WINEGROWING REGIONS OF FRANCE, ITALY, PORTUGAL, CHILE, CANADA, AND MEXICO, AS WELL AS ALL OF THE MAJOR WINEGROWING REGIONS OF THE U.S.  DR. HELLMAN IS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR ENOLOGY AND VITICULTURE, AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE, AND THE AMERICAN POMOLOGICAL SOCIETY.
